About
I’m a fantasy writer and lover of all things fantastical. This blog is an exploration of the various contents, themes and forms of fantasy fiction. I can’t claim to be an expert, so Elements of Fantasy represents an effort to educate myself as well as others on what goes into the literature of the fantastic, be it good, bad or indifferent.
My aim is to have two or three regular posts per week, as well as news about my own writing and about fantasy or writing in general. Mondays will be Monday Masterclass: a short essay on some facet of fantasy fiction. Wednesdays will bring Wednesday Word of the Week: a definition and example of an unusual word I’ve come across. (What does this have to do with fantasy? Well, a broad vocabulary is essential for any writer, and unusual words are good for implying unusual ideas, feelings or situations. Try reading one of Stephen R Donaldson’s Thomas Covenant books for an example of what I mean. Also, my lexicon is an ongoing project I’ve had for some time, and I feel that this is a good new home for it.)
Please leave your comments and any ideas for future essays you’d like to see me tackle.

Dear Sean MAY,
I have just found
and I wonder about two things.
1. Did you make any progress ( and read more books from your library ) ?
2. Why does your website have such a badly lit background ? White on brown is not that easy to read.
Reagrds,
Roger

Hi Sean,
Congrats for your blog. I wonder if I can use (quoting your blog) the map of the War of the Roses for a publication in Italy. Can you please let me know if it possible.
Thanks
Maria
